Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, USA is an American actress. She is famous for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively in ABC's Lost television show. After her parents' divorce, she left Worthington, Ohio to live at Los Angeles. Although she was struggling financially, her 2001 debut was in the role of Rachel's Room's primary character. In 2002 she was nominated to receive a Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. In 2004 Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost in which she acted as a principal character for the initial two seasons. She was also awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to focus on the role of a greater part in films, having appeared in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. The actress starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. Her role was reprised as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version to Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played Shannon's part on Lost for two more episodes, which included the series final. She also appeared in the sixth season of Californication. She portrays Faith who's both an avid stargazer as well as a the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She's a Gyllenhaal, the child of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), and is older that Jake Gyllenhaal. Her acting career started as a young teenager when she appeared in small parts in a few films directed by her father. She also worked with her brother on the 2001 famous film Donnie Darko. Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal's leading roles in Secretary, an erotico-romantic comedy, and Sherrybaby (a drama) received her nominations for Golden Globe Award. After a string of commercially successful films, including World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). For her performance as an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Then she continued to play in comedies along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) as well as Won't Back Down (12). Alongside her work as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she has also appeared in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The latest roles included her character as the primary protagonist of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a director and writer in 2021 with her drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
